Thank you for your interest in Pilates Elementals. I have been a Pilates trainer with over 18 years experience teaching individuals of all ages and fitness levels. I’m certified as a 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher, with additional certification in Aerial Yoga.
My professional Pilates experience in the Tallahassee fitness community includes being an instructor/trainer at Premier Health & Fitness, Legends/Impact Fitness, Journeys in Yoga Studio, Art of the Catwalk Studio, Yoga Dog Studio Quincy – and, at my private studio, Studio Endorphilates.
In addition to teaching at Abundance Wellness Center, I continue to hold classes at The Capitol/Pepper Building (where I’ve taught classes since 2007) – and, I offer private, semi-private sessions with clients in their homes.
It’s a mystifying ‘twist of fate’ that would lead me to becoming a Pilates/yoga instructor. However, the combined modalities have transformed my life in miraculous ways, physically, emotionally and spiritually. Guiding others along their personal path of ‘transformation’ is one of the greatest joys I’ve experienced in life, thus far. There is a cumulative sense of accomplishment for both myself and others that continues to this day.
Read more of my professional history below.
I trained under the tutelage of esteemed pianist-pedagogue Edward Kilenyi at Florida State University School of Music. Subsequently, I had a brief career as a concert pianist in New York City between 1982-1991 before developing focal dystonia – a crippling neuromuscular disorder that prohibited performance. During my time in NYC, I held positions as Associate Editor at Bourne-International Music Publishers, Artist in Residence/Adjunct Instructor at Marymount Manhattan College, as well as, International Copyright Correspondent at MCA-Universal Music Publishers.
After leaving NYC in 1994, I spent a brief period in New Orleans. I worked in association with the New Orleans Lyric Opera as vocal coach and accompanist for singers.
I returned to Tallahassee in 1995. Since then, I’ve explored numerous professional venues that included managing both Food Glorious Food and (the former) Chez Pierre restaurants, a nationally-exhibited fine art photographer and the Tallahassee Democrat’s food columnist. I’ve held former board member positions at Friends of Dance (FSU School of Dance), 621 Gallery @ Railroad Square and advisory board member at COCA.
Currently, I divide my time between teaching Pilates Elementals and being an Intuitive Astrologer at jostvandykeastrology.com .
